Leonardo recently welcomed its global AW09 partner network to Vergiate, Italy, for a dedicated programme update focused on preparing the worldwide introduction of its next-generation single-engine helicopter. The event provided an opportunity to share the latest programme developments, showcase customer support solutions and strengthen collaboration across the growing AW09 ecosystem.
The programme brought together distributors from across the world to review the latest milestones achieved by the AW09 programme and discuss the activities supporting its market introduction. Participants explored the aircraft’s cabin configuration options, including Agusta interiors, while also gaining insights into the comprehensive support, training and service solutions that will accompany the helicopter throughout its operational life.
The event was further enriched by the participation of Safran Helicopter Engines, Leonardo’s engine partner for the AW09, highlighting the strong industrial collaboration underpinning the programme.
A key moment of the week was the opportunity for all partners to experience the AW09 in flight for the first time. The demonstration flights enabled participants to appreciate the helicopter’s flying characteristics, handling qualities and performance, generating strong enthusiasm and confidence as the programme progresses towards certification and market entry.
Beyond the technical updates, the event reinforced the importance of the global partner network in the successful introduction of the AW09. Bringing together expertise from different markets, the gathering strengthened collaboration, shared best practices and confirmed the common commitment to delivering the next generation of single-engine helicopter capabilities to customers worldwide.
