Kopter Group AG has experienced extensive interest from customers participating at HeliExpo 2018, held in Las Vegas, NV from 27 Feb to 1 March.
Its second prototype (P2) exhibited together with a mock-up fitted with a state-of-the art EMS interior by Metro Aviation have attracted much attention. Customers operating helicopters in different configurations and geographies particularly appreciated the reinforced safety features, performance and design that make the SH09 a very attractive and affordable mission tool.

During its unveiling event held on the first day, Kopter announced several firm orders. First, Helitrans, the largest Norwegian helicopter operator, has confirmed an order of 18 helicopters (12 firm and 6 options). Helitrans becomes the latest launch customer to participate in the smooth entry into service of the SH09. Second, Paradise Helicopters has signed an order of 4 helicopters to offer exclusive air tours in Hawaii where they are based. Finally Rainier International Inc. has placed an order for 10 helicopters (5 firm and 5 options) to be integrated in their large helicopter fleet used for various missions across the US.
Over the following two days, Kopter has finalized the following agreements:
- 2 firm orders with Safomar Aviation (PTY) LTD, a diverse aviation group based in South Africa
- 6 new letters of intent from Canadian (3 units), New-Zealander (2 units) and Swedish (1 unit) operators
This brings the total of orders for the SH09 to 34 firm orders and options, 29 pre-contracts – which are Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) that will transform into contracts when certification is reached – and around 100 Letters of Intent. A part of the orders announced at Heli-Expo transform prior Letters of Intent into firm or pre-contracts showing the confidence that customers now place in Kopter Group to reach certification and delivery dates as announced.
Kopter Group is currently fully focused on reaching EASA certification in Q1 next year and building up its industrial footprint in order to start deliveries in the second half of 2019.
